Awesome place: Achensee

Lake Achen breathtaking crystal clear water.

Achensee boat trip from "Scholastika" station to Pertisau village for hiking.

Achen lake

The trip took us from Achenkirch to Pertisau by ferry. You can buy the tickets in advance or directly on the ship (SEE HERE FOR MORE INFO. There are several options, either a one way trip along the lake or a round-trip is also possible. However, my feeling was that they really trust in the honesty of the tourists because nobody actually aver checked our ticket. But please don't quote me on that, maybe they do it from time to time.

After arriving in Pertisau after a 20 minutes and ,short stop over at the "Gaisalm", you will first see all the typical tourists shop and some hotels and restaurants / beer gardens. From there you just walk towards the Pertisau lido which was quite crowded on this sunny summer day, to reach the hiking trail. When you have a look to the crystal clear water you would also start thinking about joining the lake for a swim for sure!

Leaving the lido behind the actual hike begins: In the beginning it's really for young and old, trained and untrained. But at a certain point is a door with a warning sign which tells you you should have at least a bit of alpine experience! And yes the trail starts to be a bit more challenging, however for average people is still quite easy to walk but some positions are tight and you or the other person need to wait for a second.

But it is absolutely worth it! Take some breaks in between to get the views along the trail! And at 2/3 of your trip you should take a break at the Gaisalm, a restaurant which can only be reached either by ferry or on the hike trail. After that take the last steps and watch some small waterfalls and you are back in Achenkirch, just on the other side, where you started. So when you left your car (like us) at the Scholistka station you need to walk back again another 2 km.
