Hike from Calpe city to the top of the calpe rock.
Calpe rock hike
This hike was actually pretty straight forward until we reached the tunnel. Before that there have been already several signs saying only 18+ people should go that way. However,is was kind of normal, so even an 4-year old could walk the way up. But then in the tunnel it changed immediatly. This slope upwards was not that bad, but it was really slippery although some railings were installed on the left and right. After you have passed the tunnel the hiking path gets much more difficult. So I would really recommend to only proceed with children older than 8 or 9 years.
You pass an area with many seagulls, and they can fly very close to the trail while making a lot of noise. We had an almost perfect day with little wind and no rain, but the route would be much more demanding in poor weather. After this passage the path becomes stony and less clearly marked, so you need to climb and place your feet carefully. It is not an extreme hike, but it is more rugged than it first appears.
Right after that you get a normal narrow hike path and in 10 to 15 minutes you are reaching the top of the rock! The view is brilliant, so if you are there, fit and the weather is nice, you can do the hike! But please consider the right shoes for this journey :).
